Twitter has turned five. And it’s almost hard to believe, considering how much it’s grown in the short time since its inception.
To commemorate its fifth year, Twitter has launched discover.twitter.com. Featuring 16 of its most prominent users from around the world (@SnoopDogg, @MarthaStewart and astronaut @astro_paolo to name a few), the celebratory site culminates its progression to date by answering four questions:
- What do you care about?
- Who do you follow?
- What do you want to know?
- How do you explore what’s out there?
So head over to the site or check out Twitter’s YouTube video below. It’s definitely interesting to hear what some of the biggest Twitter celebs think about the above questions. Take Snoop for example, who declares that he likes to follow Martha Stewart because:
She keeps it studded and budded. Baked and flaked. And she love to wake and bake with the big Snoop Dogg.
The 5-year milestone begs the question – what does the future hold for Twitter in the next five, or even 10 years? Hard to say. But what we can be sure of is the undeniable impact Twitter has made on the business, social and personal realms. It’s hard to comprehend at this point the thriving ecosystem that’s grown around the now ubiquitous 140 character limit.
Happy birthday Twitter. I’m excited to see what you have in store for us next.
