Greetings! I’m Wade Rockett from the Weber Shandwick Seattle office. I’m passionate about gaming: how design and mechanics influence behavior, how games can enable better communication and collaboration, and how they can be used to motivate real-world actions that help improve organizations and maybe even help save the world.
So I’m very excited to be attending this year’s South by Southwest Interactive conference in Austin, March 11-17. This is the first year there’s been a dedicated track for panels about games and gamefulness. You can see my itinerary here.
But it’s not all gaming. Panels and keynotes cover a wide variety of topics on technology, social media, culture, communication, development and design.
We pulled some data today on the online buzz surrounding SXSW: in those discussions (84% of them on Twitter), we’re seeing a lot of attention on mobile and location-based services such as Foursquare and Gowalla, as well as Instagr.am, a community for iPhone owners to share photos, and group text-messaging service GroupMe.
I’ll be posting updates from SXSW here, and tweeting from @waderockett and @wsseattle. You can also see posts by other Weber Shandwickians attending SXSW at the agency’s Social Studies Blog. Till next time, yee-haw!
