After receiving proposal submissions from 38 local nonprofit organizations for our pro-bono Impact Project, Weber Shandwick is proud to announce we have chosen Yesler Community Collaborative (YCC) as our 2016 partner. Aligned with this year’s theme of closing the opportunity gap, we are dedicating up to $100,000 of our time and talent to address YCC’s primary communication goal: to develop a clear, compelling narrative around neighborhood redevelopment in Seattle.
YCC brings together people and resources to support equitable and sustainable community development at Yesler Terrace and in surrounding neighborhoods – including the International District, Little Saigon, the Central Area, First Hill and Capitol Hill. Beyond these core neighborhoods, YCC supports the notion that everyone in Seattle should be able to choose where they live. See what YCC board president Sue Taoka has to say about Seattle’s housing challenges.
In collaboration with YCC and its key partners, Weber Shandwick will help the organization drive storytelling focused on a vision of how Seattle’s neighborhoods can develop while retaining the diversity and unique character the city is built upon. As a result, YCC will be able to raise awareness around this issue by communicating more effectively with partner organizations, community residents, small businesses, civic leaders, policy makers, the media and funders.
We are thrilled to kick off this exciting new impact work, right here at home in our Seattle community.
