With 125 offices in 82 countries, our Weber Shandwick team spans the globe, impacting not only the regions and countries we live in, but also the cities and neighborhoods we call home. This year, as part of our effort to play an even more meaningful role in our local community, we are officially launching the Impact Project: a reflection of our “Engaging, Always” mantra and of our commitment to making a difference in Seattle.
This year, we are dedicating up to $100,000 of our time and talent to address critical social issues in Seattle. We know there are hundreds of organizations in Seattle whose hard work and breakthrough thinking ensures that people have what they need to achieve their dreams, every single day.
Our theme for the Impact Project this year is closing the opportunity gap. And unlike previous pro-bono projects, our Weber Shandwick Seattle team is issuing an RFP (see below) this week for nonprofit organizations to pitch us. We want to work with a nonprofit whose mission focuses on addressing disparities in our community – from providing access to quality schools, better healthcare options for those unable to afford care, affordable housing for families, or any other barriers that limit people’s ability to thrive.
In pursuit of this goal, our office took some time to think about what closing the opportunity gap means to each of us. Here are some of the responses:
- Equal access to resources, regardless of a person’s color or creed
- Eradicating institutional racism
- The power of women in the workforce
- Eliminating income disparity
- Youth empowerment
- Ensuring all have access to a quality education
- Providing opportunities to those who wouldn’t have them otherwise
- Ensuring that all people have equitable access to the resources they need to achieve their American Dream
We are issuing the RFP this week with asubmission deadline of Friday, February 26 at 5 pm. Select organizations will be invited to present during the week of March 7. Final selection will be made in mid-March.
